Addressing the Writing Process
The
writing process itself is really important and valuable to me. I think that
writing is becoming more meaningful to me now than never before. Not only
because I am doing it more consistently but also because I am doing it in a
foreign language. There are several things that I enjoy during the writing
process. One of them is the fact that I can mold my writing in the way I want.
It is true that when writing academic papers, everyone has to respect several grammatical,
structural, and organizational rules; but in terms of word choice there is a
variety of words and phrases that an individual can use in different manners in
order to express something. In my opinion the writing process is what I call “the
mankind dilemma”. “The man kind dilemma” emerges when people try to define or
establish equality in random situations, and it is based on two arguments: all
men are equal —according to the Declaration of Independence and Christianity—; and
every single man is different— in terms of human physiology and human anatomy. In
the same way, the results of the writing process is always equal on the structural
elements that an individual must have on a paper (introduction, body paragraphs,
conclusion, grammar criteria, etc), but it is different on selection of
expressions, words, and bias that a person can use. That is the reason why one
paper written by one student is never the same as the one his or her classmate wrote. For me the more complex task during
writing is my unfluent and inaccurate way of typing. When writing a paper, I
organize my ideas and structure at a high-speed level, but my slow typing pace does
not help me fully develop them especially during the thirty minutes essay and
the ten minutes paragraphs. I have always thought that my typing skills were
fine, but when I took a typing diagnostic test, I realized that I should start
to work on improving my typing skills and to not procrastinate more on this
defining aspect of writing. So, since took that diagnostic typing test, I have
been trying to correct this problem by practicing typing every day and during
my free time. Furthermore, writing the conclusion of a paper is one of the things
that I still having trouble with. Because the function of a conclusion is to
restate and summarize the main details explained on the entire essay, I find a
little bit difficult to say the same ideas in different words. In order to get
rid of this problem I have been trying to read more and to use the new words I
learn, so I can have a wide range of vocabulary. Thus, I feel that I should end
this paragraph at this point due to the scarcity of more ideas.

Fireworks: The Friendly Pollutants
As everyone knows, the past weekend the
United States celebrated their 237 Independence Anniversary. And in this
important holiday, there are many fun activities that people do in order to
celebrate this memorable day. During this celebration there is one thing that it
is certain, fireworks are the main attraction for kids as well as elderly
people. Masses of people gather together on the most important streets of every
American state to spend good time with family and friends and to be
delighted with parades, but most importantly to observe a colorful display of
fireworks. Even the actual President of the United States of America—Mr. Barack
Hussein Obama II— had the chance to be delighted with an amazing show of
fireworks in Washington.
Fireworks play relevant role during every important
festivity or celebration since their invention by the Chinese during the
seventh century, but the wonderful displays of colors have a high cost. I am
not talking about in terms of economy but in terms of environmental
consequences. I wonder how country leaders have the courage to give speeches
about pollution and its environmental impact. I wonder how people argue about
the pollution that cars, and big factories produce— and I am not saying I support
these types of pollution— when they are the ones that help their kids light up
the wicks of the fireworks they buy.
Since the beginnings of history of the
human race, the environment has experienced great changes. Starting with the
burning of wood on the first years of the primitive men; the exploitation of
coal by the Chinese, and later introduced to Europe by Marco Polo on the thirteen
century; and ending with the exploitation of petroleum, natural gas, and the
radioactive energy. Men have polluted the world in their attempt of finding
ways to have a better life, but it is necessary to point out that these are
justifiable reasons for the pollution of the environment.
Going back to the subject, I found out that
men have been using fireworks for more than 1300 years. 1300 years of irresponsibly
contamination of the air and not significant action has been taken in order to eradicate
the widespread use of this colorful and attractive pollutant agent. So, are the
environmental changes that the world is facing due to the men’s journey of
finding sources of energy, or maybe because of an unnecessary pollution generated
in order to satisfy men’s pleasure? What do you think?
